Celebrating 100 Days to Paris 2024: Embracing Olympic Values and Gender Equality

17.04.2024

Yesterday marked a significant milestone in the countdown to the much-anticipated Paris 2024 Olympic Games – we celebrated 100 days to go!

The excitement is real as the world eagerly awaits this grand event.

At the heart of this momentous occasion was our very own School Sport Foundation (SSF) director, Diane de Navacelle de Coubertine, who had the honor of attending the lightning ceremony in ancient Olympia, Greece. Alongside IOC President Thomas Bach, Diane witnessed the time-honored tradition of lighting the Olympic flames, symbolizing the unity and spirit of the Games as they embark on their journey across the world.

Here at SSF, we deeply understand the profound significance of Olympic values and education.

It is not just about competition; it’s about fostering team spirit, respect, and excellence both on and off the field.

Paris 2024 holds a special place in history as it embraces gender equality like never before. For the first time ever, the participation of female and male athletes stands at a remarkable 50:50 ratio.

This milestone underscores the importance of inclusivity and equality in sports.

At SSF, we wholeheartedly support this endeavor, recognizing the pivotal role it plays in empowering both girls and boys to pursue their athletic dreams without barriers.

As we eagerly anticipate the commencement of Paris 2024, we are thrilled to witness this magical moment through Diane’s eyes. Her presence at the lightning ceremony embodies the spirit of unity and excitement that defines the Olympic Games.

With each passing day, our anticipation grows, and we cannot wait to be part of this historic event that celebrates the power of sport to unite us all.
