This Easter, Let’s Move Together!

18.04.2025

Easter is all about joy, new beginnings, and spending time with family and friends. But guess what? It’s also the perfect chance to get active, try something new, and celebrate through play! At the School Sport Foundation (SSF), we believe that every holiday is a chance to move, have fun, and build healthy habits together.

So let’s combine the magic of Easter with the energy of sports in creative and exciting ways!

1. The Great Easter Sports Egg Hunt!

Forget sitting still—this year, let’s turn the classic egg hunt into a mini sports challenge! Hide eggs that include not just candy but mini challenges like:

  • 10 jumping jacks
  • Balance on one foot for 20 seconds
  • Bunny-hop race to the next egg
  • Quick sprint to the garden fence and back

Each egg becomes a fun activity—and you’ll be moving, laughing, and playing all at once!

2. Bunny Games: Spring-Themed Team Sports!

Hosting a backyard party or school event? Try these Easter-inspired team games:

  • Egg-and-Spoon Relay but with a twist—include sports moves like squats or side shuffles between stations!
  • Bunny Tag – everyone hops like a bunny—if you’re tagged, do 5 star jumps to rejoin the game!
  • Spring Obstacle Course – hula hoops, cones, crawling under picnic benches—decorate it with flowers and pastel flags for Easter vibes!
3. Easter is About Fresh Starts—Set New Goals!

Just like spring brings new life, Easter is a great time to set fresh goals in sports or movement:

🌟 Try a new sport you’ve never played before

🌟 Set a goal to run your first mini race or finish a full training week

🌟 Practice a skill you want to master by summer (handstand? cartwheel? dribbling?)

Write your goal on a paper egg and hang it in your room as a reminder.

4. Move Together as a Family

Use Easter weekend as a chance for active family fun:

  • Go for a spring walk or bike ride
  • Play a friendly game of soccer or volleyball
  • Do a family yoga or stretching session in the garden

Moving together creates memories and builds strong, happy habits for everyone!

5. Celebrate with Colorful, Healthy Fuel

Sports and fun need good fuel! This Easter, make it colorful and healthy:

🌟 Carrot sticks with hummus

🌟 Fruit kabobs with yogurt dip

🌟 Hard-boiled “rainbow” eggs with natural food colouring

🌟 Infused water with lemon, mint, or berries

Good food = good energy = more fun playtime!
